PVEP TRADE UNION ORGANIZED SUM-UP MEETING OF 2020

On December 17th 2020, PVEP Trade Union held a Sum-Up Meeting of 2020 and implementing tasks for 2021, online between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh Branch.

Attending the Meeting were Ms. Nghiem Thi Thuy Lan - Chairman of the Vietnam Oil & Gas Trade Union, representatives of functional departments of Petrovietnam Trade Union;

For PVEP, there were Dr. Tran Quoc Viet –President & CEO; Mr. Hoang Ngoc Trung – Vice President, Mr. Kieu Ngoc Anh - Chairman of the Trade Union; leaders and representatives from all political - social organizations of PVEP.

Overview of the Conference

At the meeting, Chairman of PVEP Trade Union Kieu Ngoc Anh reported on the results of first half of the 2017-2022 term as well as the activities of the PVEP Trade Union in 2020.

As of November 2020, PVEP and its member units and joint ventures have a total of 2,191 trade union members (of which 682 are female, accounting for 31.4%).

Due to the deep fall in oil prices and the complicated of Covid -19 epidemic which greatly affected the production and business situation of PVEP and its member units as well as the employees' anxiety about jobs and ensure stable life. Trade unions at all levels actively coordinated with the authorities to advise and propose recommendations on building regimes and policies related to the rights and interests of employees, promptly propagating and encouraging people to work. Emulation movements for creative labor, promotion of innovations and technical innovations have been promoted with many positive results. PVEP Trade Union also continues to focus on activities to support workers in difficult circumstances, dangerous diseases and occupational accidents in addition to well-organized cultural - sports activities, life care for employees. With a tradition in the forefront of social security, PVEP Trade Union and other units donated and sponsored in 2018 with 1,112 billion VND, in 2019 reached 647 million VND, in 2020 reached 1,030 billion VND.

Facing difficulties and challenges in 2020, PVEP employees has united and endeavored to complete the oil and gas production plan and tasks. Production activities are maintained stably and ensure absolute safety. Measures to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic have been implemented proactively, comprehensively and seriously, with the result that there are no cases of employees being infected.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Tran Quoc Viet - CEO of PVEP praised the good results achieved by Trade Union in recent years and expected to continue the initiative and efficiency in implementing functions and tasks of the organization. Sharing about the situation of business and the implementation of the Corporation's objectives and tasks, including the work of policies and human resource management, he said that over the past years, the Corporation has faces great difficulties and at times is pressured to cut off 30-40% of the workforce. With the highest sense of responsibility and central position of employees' interests and livelihoods, the leaders of the Corporation always consider carefully when issuing every decision and policy necessary for the existence and development of PVEP. Through the conference, he also expected Trade Union at all levels to raise their role as a bridge, accompanying PVEP's leadership in propaganda and explanation of policies to all PVEP employees.

On behalf of Petrovietnam Trade Union, Chairman Nghiem Thi Thuy Lan highly appreciated the role and specificity of PVEP Trade Union due to the diversity of structure, type of organization and members of the union. Ms. Lan also acknowledged the positive results of PVEP Trade Union spread evenly on working aspects. Regarding the key tasks of PVEP Trade Union in the coming time, she suggested the Executive Committee promote more labor emulation movements, invention initiatives; carry out propaganda and advocacy to unify the employees' thought of action with the political system; adhering to the orientation of the oil and gas culture regeneration project, focusing on building brand name and reputation of the unit in Union activities, thereby spreading the image and good values of people; renewing operation modes, increasing the application of technology to Trade Union activities such as exploiting social networks Facebook, Zalo, propagating via website, online forms ...

Facing the changes of the Oil and Gas Industry in the new period, Chairman Nghiem Thi Thuy Lan also noted that PVEP Union needs to proactively promote solutions for employees to be aware of and prepare for the challenges of transformation. At the same time, it affirms that Petrovietnam Trade Union is always ready to stand by and support in all aspects for the activities of PVEP Trade Union.

Also within the framework of the meeting, Ms. Nghiem Thuy Lan, on behalf of Petrovietnam Trade Union, presented emulation flags to PVEP, successfully completed Trade Union activities in the first half of the term 2018-2023.
