PVEP CHAIRMAN ENCOURAGES SECONDEES IN OVERSEAS PROJECTS

20/01/2021

On the last days of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, PVEP Chairman Tran Hong Nam had online meetings with PVEP secondees who are still actively contributing to the activity of projects in Algeria and Peru.

The globally complicated evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 has had a profound impact on all socio-economic aspects and the lives of people around the world. The oil and gas industry in general as well as PVEP in particular is not out of that circle with the double effects not only from epidemics but also from the severe drop in crude oil prices.

As soon as the epidemic broke out strongly from the beginning of 2020 and there was a danger of losing control in the areas where PVEP projects are located, the leaders of the Corporation have directed projects to proactively respond and coordinated with functional agencies to successfully evacuate most of the secondees back to the country. However, to ensure the maintenance of projects, many officers and engineers volunteered to stay at the site. However, the delays of international airlines, difficulties in immigration procedures in the context of epidemics, have caused many staffs at the projects having to live and work in the midst of a plague for many months. Some employees have not changed shifts for nearly a year in difficult conditions of life, stress and mental fatigue.

Sharing and understanding the sacrifices and hardships of secondees who are still working in epidemic countries, over the past time, PVEP leaders have always been implementing mutual assistance activities for employees by coordinating, through diplomatic channels, Vietnamese Embassies in order to supply masks and anti-epidemic materials for PVEP staffs. When the blockade orders were reduced, in countries with permissible conditions such as Malaysia, the Corporation promoted the safe evacuation for employees and relatives.

On the first days of 2021, on behalf of the PVEP leaders, Chairman Tran Hong Nam had an online meeting to work and encourage secondees in Peru and Algeria. Attending the meeting were Vice Presidents Hoang Ngoc Trung, Vu Minh Duc and leaders of Project Management, Planning & Investment Divisions.

Chairman Tran Hong Nam praised and acknowledged the effort, professionalism and high responsibility of all secondees during a year working away from home, not changing shifts while living with the risk of disease. Affirming the contributions of the officers and engineers in recent years Dr. Tran Hong Nam also instructed everybody to always comply with the principles of epidemic safety for themselves as well as promptly update the epidemic situation at the working area so that the Corporation has appropriate response plans.

Dr. Tran Hong Nam meets and encourages PVEP secondees in Peru.

Be thankful for the close attention and timely support from the leaders of the Corporation, all secondees expressed determination to continue the work progress and excellently complete the assigned tasks. Mr. Le Ba Tuan - Head of Production Department of GBRS in Algeria shared: “The epidemic is still complicated, maybe we have to stay at site for long but always insist that, under every difficult circumstances we will always raise the spirit, keeping the passion and enthusiasm for the job to fulfill the assigned tasks well".
