Petrovietnam and PVEP delegation visits and works in Venezuela

Recently, from 28th to 31st May 2023, the delegation of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) and Petrovietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) visited and worked with the organizations, agencies and partners in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, where PVEP is implementing Junin 2 Oil and Gas Project.

The delegation was led by Mr. Tran Binh Minh – Petrovietnam’s member of the Board of Directors, accompanied by Mr. Tran Quoc Viet – PVEP’s Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Trinh Viet Thang – PVEP’s member of the Board of Directors, representatives from the Divisions of Petrovietnam and PVEP, PVEP Venezuela Branch.

Within the framework of the trip, the delegation had important working sessions with the Venezuelan Ministry of Petroleum (MENPET), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Venezuelan National Oil Company (PDVSA), Venezuelan Oil Company (CVP) – PVEP’s partners at Junin 2 Project, Petromacareo Joint Venture Company and the Embassy; representatives of Vietnamese political organizations in Venezuela.

At the meeting with Mr. Erick Pérez - Deputy Minister of Petroleum of Venezuela, the two sides affirms that Junin 2 project is the result of traditional friendship cooperation and the “petroleum diplomacy” relationship between Vietnam and Venezuela. Therefore, the implementation of the project must bring harmonious benefits to the two states and the investors.

Deputy Minister Erick Pérez said that MENPET was very interested in the project’s issues and recognized and appreciated the ideas of Petrovietnam/ PVEP on the proposal to consider possible options for the next period of the project. The Ministry of Petroleum, PVDSA, CVP and PVEP agreed the two sides should set up a Joint Study Group to consider the orientation for the project with the goal of ensuring the socio-economic efficiency of Venezuela while also ensuring efficiency for PVEP/CVP investors.

With the current political economic situation and the current investment environment of Venezuela being more positive, Deputy Minister Erick Pérez hopes the activities of Vietnam in general and the oil and gas sector in particular will be more and more favorable, effective and hopefully in the near future there will be positive information to send to investors soon.

General Meeting of Shareholders of PetroMacareo Joint Venture Company

On 30th May 2023 in Caracas, PVEP’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Tran Quoc Viet represented Group B shareholders to attend the General Meeting of Shareholders of PetroMacareo Joint Venture Company.

Within the framework of the business trip, the delegation visited and worked with Mr. Vu Trung My - Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Venezuela; worked with Ms. Titania Pugh Morento - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of Asia, PDVSA, CVP… on related issues. Representatives of the Ministry of Petroleum and Venezuelan partners shared the difficulties and obstacles facing the project, and also gave positive actions for the two sides to soon have research results and proposals for the next steps of the project.
