ASCOPE participated in the Oil Capacity Building Program on Energy Security 2021

On 3 March, 2021, Dr. Tran Hong Nam - PVEP's Chairman, ASCOPE’s Secretary- In- Charge  participated in the Oil Capacity Building Program on Energy Security which was virtually held by Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) in coordination with ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). 

Participants to the Program include representatives from International Energy Agency (IEA), Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (MEITI), ASEAN Council on Petroleum (ASCOPE).

The Program aims to enhance energy security in ASEAN through sharing of knowledge and experience in oil stockpiling and focuses on the development of emergency response measures and oil industry policies. This year, the Program was actively engaged by participants through sharing of emergency policy from IEA, Japan’s oil security policy from METI and experience in petroleum stockpiling for energy security from JOGMEC.

At the Program, Dr. Tran Hong Nam updated ASCOPE’s report on ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement (APSA) and way forward until the Agreement’s expiry by 2023, in line with direction from the 38th Senior Officials Meeting on Energy held in August, 2020.
