Born in 1976 in Thai Nguyen Province, Dr. Trinh Viet Thang has Engineering Degree of Drilling Technology and Doctorate Degree of Petroleum Technology of Hanoi University of Mining and Geology.

Dr. Thang started his career in 1999 as engineer of PetroVietnam DMC and became Head of Technology at MI-Swaco Joint Venture Company.

In 2003, he worked for PetroVietnam Investment & Development Company (PIDC) as drilling engineer and then assigned to be rig supervisor of PIDC-Algeria Branch.

October 2006, Dr. Thang moved to PetroVietnam and worked in Petroleum Contract Management Division before getting promotion to be Deputy General Manager in 2009.

In 2018, he was appointed Deputy GM of Boards of Directors’s Office, and Assistant to Chairman of the Board. April 2020, he was promoted to be Deputy General, and then General Manager of General Affairs Divison of PetroVietnam.

With more than 20 years of experience and many outstanding contributions, in May 2021, Chairman of Vietnam Oil & Gas Group signed Decision to appoint Dr. Trinh Viet Thang to be Member of the Board of Directors of PVEP.
