Mr. Tran Quoc Viet was born in 1963 in Ninh Binh. He graduated from the National Economics University (NEU) in 1986 with the MA of Business Administration and the PhD in Economics Management.

Mr. Viet started working at the College for petroleum officers in Vung Tau city from December, 1986. Then he spent 17 years at Vietnam-Russia Oil and Gas Joint Venture (Vietsovpetro) with many positions in economic management, including Economic Engineer; Chief Economist; Senior Specialist at Drilling Enterprise; Head of Planning and Labor Division at Geophysical Drilling Enterprise.

In June 2003, he worked in Planning Division of Vietnam Petroleum Company, now is Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) and then was appointed Deputy Director of Planning and Investment Division of PVN. From August 2009, he became General Director of Planning Division of PVN.

After more than 30 years of experience in oil and gas industry, Mr. Viet is highly appreciated by all management and colleagues through his positions and fields of work. With those outstanding achievements and contributions to the planning, strategy and economic management, he was honored to receive many awards such as Third Class Labor Medal, Merit of the Prime Minister...

Dr. Tran Quoc Viet was appointed President & CEO of PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP) on April 2018 and currently Chairman, Board of Directors of PVEP.
